I once recieved food stamps because believe it or not I am not making a TON of money from my blog…. (I do it cause I love doing it honestly) the money is a added bonus.
What alot of food stamp users don't know or understand that you can use coupons. In fact using coupons with food stamps is how I am able to stretch my food stamps to last the entire month and help me afford simple products, like cleaning supplies and personal items to keep my home going. I shop sales, I honestly buy the same things that I would if I was working. I am actually more aware of what I buy because I know what my budget is and there is no more.
Here is a tip to help you stretch you food stamps last longer.
1. The Freezer is your friend:
Freezing your meats when you find them on sale is a great way to stretch your food stamps. Freezing anything when its on sale is a life saver. Check out my Freezer Guide to help you learn what you can and can not freeze.

2.Don't Shop for the entire month in one trip:
OMG! I see this time and time again. This is the worst thing to do because you are buying things not on sale and not using coupons. This causes you to not have any money on your snap card or food in your frig. Double trouble.
3. Plan your meals out:
I try to plan my meals out at least a few days at a time. I only have one child so this works for me. But if you have more then a week at a time would save you tons of food and time. * Check out my 7 meal planning tips to get you started.
4. Turn leftovers into make overs:
Another way to is to turn your left overs into makeover or as I call it remix your left overs. I do this with chili and even showed you what I do in my 7 ways to enjoy chili.
5. Check out the drugstores:
Alot of time we can save money by checking out the drugstores. I can buy somethings that I would buy at the store and its cheaper at the drugstore and get rewards that I can use to lower the price of non food items I need. Such as my cleaning supplies and toliteries for the house.

Yassssss!!! I too receive SNAP benefits (money just does not flow like people think) and I was guilty of being the “one time shopper”. Planning out my meals and recreating the meals would be a great idea. I have been trying to break into the world of couponing for some time but have hit a few hurdles in the process. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely be using.
I love blogging but like you said we aren’t millionaires from it! Definitely will be bookmarking this and Pretty Frugal Diva’s page to share with the staff at the local DHS
Thanks so much !!!!!
Just make sure you have some change (usually less than fifty cents) when you use coupons and pay with food stamps. You have to pay the tax on the coupons. I learned this the hard way. I had absolutely no money and owed 13 cents. I was so embarassed!
I will add this to the post. Thanks.
