5 Tips to Organize Your Closet

*Yes this was (2011) really my closet*

Its that time of year when you are trying to start new and want to use this time to organize your life. But then you look at the one space in your house that's in TOTAL disaster area ALL the time. Your closet but have no fear I have some great tips along with some items that you can buy that will help organize your life.

Since my goal is to get my new smaller closet to look like this I am doing alot of the same things I did before and want to share with everyone the steps I am going to take to make my new closet just as functional as my walk in.

1. My first thing I like to do is to take the clothes out and have three boxes and a bag. Here is how you label them. 1. Keep Box, 2. Sell, 3. Donate and the bag is Trash. Take all your clothes and shoes out of your closet and separate these clothes according to these boxes. This will help you not only make more room but take account into what you have as well.

2. The clothes and shoes you then need to separate by what they are pants, shorts, skirts, shirts… etc. You then do the same thing with the shoes heels, flip flops, wedges, etc. This is so that you can now organize your closet accordingly and make it easier to locate each item in your closet.

3. There are also if your like me you have a need to make more room I found these amazing3-Drawer Wide Cart with See-Through Drawers“> plastic drawers that even now that I don't have that walk in closet it still comes in handy.  You can get these on amazon for less than $20.

4. Another thing I put in my closet because my place when I organized my closet was my rags, my socks, and odds and ends and I put them in bins I honestly found in the clearance section of walmart. But I have now updated them to some better ones I found in a Winsome Wood Capri Folding 6-Piece Fabric Basket Set, Chocolate“>set of 8 that I also use in my daughters closet.

5. Take your time this is not a project that you have to complete in a day honestly this closet took me a total of two days to complete to the point that I took this picture.  So believe me it can be done.
