Learning how to save money, create financial success for yourself, and/or reduce debt can be stressful and challenging. In fact, most people do experience anxiety over finances, but if you think clearly, create a plan for yourself, and take it step by step, using tips and tricks to help, you can greatly reduce that stress. Here are a few ways to reduce anxiety about your finances, if you need it. I hope this helps you!
Set goals and plan ahead
Financial success requires a few things and getting out of a bad financial situation also requires the same few things. Two of those things? Setting goals and planning ahead. Let’s discuss:
Setting goals – this is super important when reducing anxiety about your finances because you know exactly what you want and what you need to do to get there. For example, say your goal is to build your savings and save for a trip. Write those two goals down and then create a plan, which is your next step.
Planning ahead – when you have a goal to meet, or maybe you don’t have a goal to meet, planning ahead is very important. If you have a trip coming up, list out all of your finances, and see how you can get there, without tapping into your savings (ideal), or getting into debt (really important). If you are getting out of debt, plan ahead, and try to figure out how you can pay your bills on time, reduce your debt, and somehow get ahead.
Setting goals and planning ahead is extremely important when it comes to reducing anxiety about your finances, no matter what your goals and future plans are. When you set out on a plan to meet your goals, you can rest easier knowing that things are progressing and not staying stagnant. A lot of the time, when people have a lot of anxiety about finances, it is because they are in a hole and do not know where to start. Creating a plan and goals helps you feel like you are already on the path to getting out of that hole (if you are in one).

Reduce debt
Ding, ding! This is the key to any type of financial success. If you are struggling with anxiety, first, find out why. Is it because of debt, of any kind? If so, start tackling it, whenever possible. This takes me back to step 1: create a plan and goals, and then implement it. There are quite a few articles, videos, and other resources out there, so use them. Do research and figure out the best way to tackle your debt. Some people like to focus on the smallest debts at first to feel like they are knocking more things out, to gain motivation. Other people like to focus on the debt with the biggest balance, or the highest interest rate. Either way works, but it depends on your goals, your specific debt, and your personality. Choose what works best and create your plan. Then, start tackling it. Once you reduce your debt, I promise that your anxiety will go down greatly!

Find savings, when you can
When you are going through your monthly bills and future purchases, find savings when you can. Try to negotiate your bills (like internet, tv, and insurance), and also use add ons like

Rakuten or Honey, which help save you money when making purchases. There are so many ways to find savings, when you can, so get creative with it, do research, and go for it.

Know you are not alone
According to the American Psychological Association, money issues are a top source of stress in about 7 out of 10 adults. With that being said, if you feel stress or anxiety about your finances, you are not alone. Not even close! I know that this doesn’t solve anything for you when it comes to money issues, but sometimes, knowing that you are not alone brings a sense of “togetherness” or peace about the situation.
