I finally did it! After finally getting to a point where I am ready to turn my family home into my home. I finally got rid of the main thing that had to go and that was the brown walls. Everyone says that paint makes a difference and they are correct.
Choosing A Color
This was a project almost a year in the making. I knew when I went to the paint store I wanted a neutral color. I went with a grey to brighten up a room and give a clean look to the family room. I found it but the brand I was looking at was definitely out of my price range. So I found a more affordable brand. I also made sure that I had a primer in my paint because as you can see this was a dark brown accent wall. The other walls in the room were a tan color.

Youtube University
I had to watch about 4 videos to learn how to paint as I am a former army brat and I never was allowed to paint in army housing. So this was my truly first time ever painting in life. So I looked at home depot for a tutorial on painting and what kind of supplies to purchase I highly recommend it.
Final Results
Here are the final results after decluttering a ton it took 1 and 1/2 days to paint and 5 hours of decluttering to get the family room looking like I wanted. I still have minor stuff to get out but this was a great stopping point and to be able to show have space for my family or anybody else to come over was great.
