So I was invited out by Kroger to see the new campaign they are launching a new look and some other great things that I will post later today or first thing tomorrow morning. But the reason I am posting this is to let you know that the wave of couponers cries heard in the mid west and Texas especially has finally hit the southeast!!
For years we have enjoyed the everyday doubling of coupons $0.50 and less. We got FREE items because of this great policy and it made living for us couponers and savvy shoppers much easier to handle an almost impossible budget and still live comfortably. While I am not saying that this will hurt us. As I will be posting some other things about what Kroger is doing. It does have me wondering in this competitive Atlanta market where in Georgia we use more coupons per capita then ANYWHERE in the US how this will fair? Will Publix jump on the bandwagon?
To be fair Kroger gave me shocking Statistics that only 8% used a coupon that was doubled. And 4% used only 1 coupon that was doubled. Only .5% of all Kroger shoppers in this region or roughly 500 households used 100 or more coupons that were doubled in a month. Now that's all well and good but with a store like Publix still doubling and taking store and competitor coupons it would still be worth me going there to save that money. Unless its cheaper at Kroger and without doubling the coupon.
For this couponer I will be having to double check my shopping list with this new rule. Not fun but hey there is alot of new stuff coming from Kroger and I think this is why the program of double couponing is ending.
Only time will tell and with that being said here are the details:
AS OF SEPTEMBER 21, 2013 Kroger will no longer Double Coupons in the Southeast Region.
Sad day indeed.

Yes a sad day… I hope it doesn’t spread to Columbus. I think we are one of the only areas left with Kroger doubles. And those stats have to be off. Only 8% use a coupon that is doubled?! No way! Talk to your readers and mine- I think they make up more than 8%!
I think that stat is company wide not specifically in Georgia. Also with Atlanta grocery market being so hard we will see if they like Publix being #1 we have sent many stores crying back home. Winn Dixie, Harris Teeters, Cub Foods and most recently Food Lion. This market here is a beast. So I am waiting to see what we do with this.
