I have had my ups and downs as far as a single mother but the act of one friend truly made me realize the power of friendship. I was sick in 2013 and even some of 2014 with an ovarian cyst but Christmas of 2013 was especially hard for me. Being that sick I was bed-ridden and in and out of the hospital. Working part time cleaning out a radiation medical center scared that I was going to end up a patient. It was honestly one of the hardest times of my life and by the looks of my site you would have never known. I still posted as much as my body would allow because this is how I earn part of my living so it was a must for me.

Sad to say that because bills came first I didn't even put up a tree that year. I was too sick, so I stayed in my house sad and depressed as Christmas got closer. I then got a phone call that made my day. It was a call from my best friend since high school. She called and asked how I was feeling and of course I told her still the same and at the time I was fighting my insurance company trying to get approval through to be tested for cancer.
When she asked about my daughters Christmas I told her thank goodness my grandmother is getting her some stuff. She asked what I had got her and sadly I told her nothing. As much as I would like to get her something it wasn't possible. She asked for my city and said what store do you pickup Western Union at? I told her. She called me back 30 mins later and said I sent you some money go get her the Christmas PJs you always buy her.
She doesn't know this but that jester had me crying for a solid hour. When I didn't think anyone cared about me. She proved to me without a shadow of a doubt to stay strong. Because of her I had one present under my tree that year and felt like I had a million. I was able to get her PJ and some little fun stuff as well we could do with the little energy I had.
This is what lies at the heart of the new Chain of Betters project. It’s an idea that empowers people with the opportunity to change the lives of others. As the money moves around the world, creating a chain of good deeds, together we can start to change lives in ways we wouldn’t have imagined was possible. This isn’t just saying money moves for better. This is proving it, together.
