There has been a lot of talk on TV and news and I wanted to give a REAL look at what I have to go through to make ends meet. First of all $29.00 is a not what I get that might be the average but I do work. I work part-time as an administrative assistant. I do have this site but the income is limited at best and definitely not constant. So me and my daughter receive food stamps to help us as I go through this time.
Now with that said let me first say that I applaud Gwyneth Paltrow for bringing awareness to this issue and in the long run I think that it will help with some understanding. But let's be real what she eats and regular American's eat is not realistic. Fresh fruit and veggies. Chile by the time I fight Atlanta traffic and get my daughter it's almost like I have worked a full day. The last thing I have time for is fresh fruits and veggies (unless I am freezing them). Now do I buy it sure but it has to be used within that week. I don't have the luxury of items going bad. Food goes bad in my house that means less chance of me having food at the end of the month when our food supply is at its lowest.
I have to plan out my meals, I have to buy fresh veggies on sale or clearance and freeze them on the weekends. I have to spend an entire week of grocery money to buy meat and fish to last us the month and freeze it. I have to use coupons and plan my meals around whats on sale. If its processed oh well. I find healthy alternatives where and when I can but it's about moderation and exercise in my house.
Believe me I was not always like this before the economic downturn I was a property administrative assistant and made a decent salary and bonus and now I can only find jobs that barely pays the bills in my home. I am now not getting any health insurance (thanks Nathan Deal) and have two hospital bills that don't have a total yet as I just was in the hospital last night. I have prescriptions that total $165 that I have to figure out how to get or I will be in the hospital with Pneumonia. I understand her efforts but in life she has NEVER had to live the life that comes with receiving these food stamps.
I thank her using her status to make awareness but there is a TON more that comes with these STAMPS. Do you know someone on stamps? What are your thoughts on stamps?

I saw this post on Pinterest. Bravo, lady! There are six of us, in my house. I was downsized six years ago and my husband has the only income. I try to make the most of every weekly shopping trip. Just recently, I’ve started freezer cooking and it has become a new passion of mine. We can’t get assistance, apparently my husband makes too much even though we’re barely above water each month.
Keep your head up! You’re doing a great job. God Bless!
In my house we have 3 adults and we only get $100 and it’s usually gone within 2 weeks if that. Right now we have no food in our house. Literally no food. A lot of people say they have nothing to eat but really what it is is that they just don’t want what they have. We don’t have that option. I live at home with my parents because we all have health problems and we help take care of each other. My dad is on disability and after we pay our bills and get out medication his check is gone and sometimes we don’t even have enough to get our meds. It’s really hard to deal with. My pastor thankfully comes and gets us to take us to church or we wouldn’t even be able to go there because we have no money for gas. The thing that upsets me the most is that I know a lot of people that are not working just because they don’t want to and they get over $500 a month. I don’t understand how that is fair. I just want to be able to not have to go to bed hungry. And have you seen how freaking expensive healthy food is? It’s crazy. And then you go to the doctor and they tell you that you are fat and need to eat healthy. Yeah ok mr rich doctor you pay for it and I will. I haven’t ate much this past week because we are low on food and I’ve lost 10 pounds because of it. That is not healthy at all. I just don’t know what to do anymore.
You are definitely in my prayers have you tried food banks. When I lost my job thats one of the things that help me and they give you alot and are usually willing to help you monthly. If you try your local united way they have amazing resources that can even help with utilities. I hope that helps.
