Write About an African-American Who Inspires You – You Could Win a Scholarship!
When you’re the parent of a teenager, one of the main topics of discussion between you and your child is about what’s next after high school. As a single mother, this topic is always on my mind and the most important part of the conversations is how we will pay for college. Thank goodness for scholarships! There are several scholarship opportunities that could help your child earn money to pay for college, and Regions Bank has a great scholarship that could help eliminate some of your worries.

In honor of Black History Month, Regions Bank is continuing its tradition of celebrating men and women who paved the way for future generations with the Regions Riding Forward® Scholarship Essay Contest.
High School seniors are eligible to enter for a $5,000 scholarship, and college freshman, sophomores and juniors are eligible to enter for a $3,500 scholarship. Entries will be accepted Jan.18 through Feb. 25. Each applicant is to write a 500-word essay about an African-American who inspires and motivates them and why. Official rules, complete entry details, and eligibility requirements are available on Regions’ website, www.regions.com/ridingforward.
Regions will select one high school and one college winner from each of the 16 states served by Regions branches, for a total of 32 winners. Below is a list of the eligible states:

- Arkansas
- Florida
- Georgia
- Iowa
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Kentucky
- Louisiana
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Virginia
